Kathy was born in San Francisco, CA. She then moved to East Dubuque, Illinois, where she loved to help her dad with his customers at their Marina that was on the Mississippi River.
At age 16, her family decided to move back to California. They moved to Benicia, CA, where she graduated from Benicia High School. After she graduated she wanted to work instead of college. She got a job in a Brick factory, working alongside of about 70 men. She was the first, and only woman that worked at Port Costa Materials and she worked there for 19 years. This is where she met her husband who she is still happily married to.
In 2002, she was injured on the job, so she no longer was able to work there and decided to go back to college.
After college, she went to work with the USDA Forest Service. She loved that it never felt like a job! She enjoyed it very much, and recently she retired. That’s when she decided she wanted to start her very own plant shop!
”Since I can remember back, I have always had plants, plants, and more plants in my home! I love to go to plant stores, and every time I did that, I swear, a plant would follow me home! My husband would say things like "If you bring any more plants home, he is going to have to sleep in the garage!" To this day, my home is still full of plants.” - Kathy
She has always dreamed of someday owning her own Plant Shop, and coincidentally met the owner of “Aquarian Plants" Samantha Larot. By participating in her group of traveling vendor’s through Harajuku. And now, her dream is coming true! She has now taken over the plant business for Aquarian Plants and is now the new owner of the plant shop! Please feel free to stop by anytime, Tuesday through Saturday, 10am - 5pm and Sunday 10am-3pm. Kathy would love to meet you and share her love of plants!
